Today as I was contemplating my thoughts on my eight anniversary of sobriety, I came across this poem that my youngest daughter wrote about me, and I now want to share it with all whom it might help on their road to recovery from any kind of addiction.
To Save A Man
He went out of his way to save a man.
He risked his life to save a man.
He opened his arms to save a man.
He turned on a light to save a man.
He lied in a bed to save a man.
He defied the limits of his body to save a man.
He denied temptation to save a man.
He prayed to his Creator to save a man.
He bore the burden to save a man.
He FORGAVE to save a man.
A man that he didnt even know, a man that was drowned by the liquids of societys way.
He sacrificed life as he knew it to save this man.
HE IS THIS MAN
THIS MAN IS MY FATHER.
